The Naples Area Board of REALTORS (NABOR) Community Involvement Committee was created in 2004 for the purpose of identifying activities NABOR could participate in that would be beneficial to the community we live and work in. This was the chance to give back to the community that has provided us with our livelihoods. The mission is to focus on projects that are hand in hand with the idea of Shelter, Housing, Educating and Beautifying – all needs of our community and every community.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF COLLIER COUNTY
Every year, NABOR, is focused on raising funds to build at least one house for Habitat for Humanity of Collier County and to help a needy family have a home they can call their own. Leaders within the real estate community pull together and collect funds from three different events; Women’s Council of Realtors® Annual Fashion Show, Educational Events, and from NABORs’ Annual Installation Banquet. In addition, individual REALTORS® personally participate in donating time and physical labor on the construction site. In May, members of NABOR will spend each Saturday assisting this year’s NABOR partner family in reaching the 500 hours of sweat equity required by the Habitat for Humanity of Collier County.

NABOR members participated in the Food Drive for Charitable Type Organizations in Collier County on May 13, 2006. Over 1000 pounds of dry and canned goods were collected by the U.S. Postal Service and donated by the residents of Collier County. Hundreds of volunteers, including NABOR members and their families, sorted and loaded vehicles for delivery to the Charitable Organizations.

HUMANE SOCIETY
NABOR’s Community Involvement Committee is closely involved with the Collier County Humane Society. In the near future, over 50 local Real Estate Offices will have “paw printed” boxes where supplies like paper towels, bleach, kitty litter and dog and cat toys can be donated.

BIRTHING CENTER
In 2006, the 2005 NABOR Leadership Team provided funding to continue the work on the NCH Birthing Center Project. This worthwhile endeavor was completed in the fall of 2005. The goal was to renovate thewaiting area for families at North Collier Hospital. A surplus of funds is to be used to maintain and update the waiting room and the necessary supplies.
